Update

Hi friends,
I continue to feel well although the last few days I have been
feeling a bit "heady". Other than some fatigue I can't really complain.
I'm starting a chemotherapy trial in a week out of Halifax that is part
of a multicentre study. It consists of chemotherapy daily for a year.
I'm glad to be doing it.
Pam gets her gallbladder out on Thursday.
Love from the both of us,
Barry

Treatment

Hi friends,
I continue to feel great thankfully. Pam and I are enjoying the summer
to the utmost. I was talking today to Dr. Holness' Clinical Coordinator.
They discussed my case at Tumour Rounds in Halifax this morning. The
consensus from this involved one of two types of chemotherapy. One type
involves daily treatment for one year. I think this will be decided this
week after they discuss this with Dr Dryer here in Charlottetown. I'm
glad that they are proceeding because it seems that for the past number
of weeks all I've been doing is listening to the bomb tick.
The OR staff had a wonderful party for 4 of us old retired surgeons. It was
greatly appreciated.
I'll keep in touch.
Love,
Barry

MRI Results

Hi folks,
There are two recent additions to the blog below- one of mine and one
from Beth with wedding pictures.
I had my MRI yesterday. It certainly doesn't look great. (some progression
in size but reasonably restricted in location). Pam and I weren"t particularly
discouraged by it. We met today with Dr. Dryer , my oncologist (an absolute
angel ) and she offered me the second line of chemotherapy. Pam and I decided
that I would wait and start this in one month. The reason for the delay is that
I am feeling so darn good and I want to enjoy more of the summer.
Still coming down from the wedding and having all the friends and relatives
around.
The best hugs are the ones that are given for no particular reason.
Love,
Pam and Barry

The Wedding

Greetings from Beth! We just returned to the States today after a terrific 12-day visit to PEI. It was wonderful to see everyone and get to spend so much time with the family. Tonight I asked Katie what her favorite part of the trip was and she looked at me like I was crazy to have to ask and said "The wedding!" I couldn't agree more. Suzie was a beautiful bride and we wish her and Shane all the best! Here are some of our favorite photos.

Wow,what a day!

Saturday was absolutely fabulous. The weather was fantastic. Pam and Carilyn
McIsaac had the property looking like a movie setting. My daughter looked
even more beautiful than usual. Following the ceremony in our backyard we
had a champagne reception while pictures were taken. This was followed by
a recption and dance at Belvedere Golf Club. What a great job they did at
Belvedere. My three year old grandchildren( Katie and Tug) were the
ring bearer and flower girl. Too cute and heartwarming to describe.. If we are
lucky, Beth is going to make an entry on the blog with pictures.
Me, I'm feeling fine. Another MRI tomorrow. Then what--- I don't know but
I'll let you know as soon as I do.
With all the friends and relatives that were here for the wedding, it just
reaffirmed the value of them. Don't take anybody for granted.
Love and hugs
Barry

Hi folks,
This is wedding week and I'm very excited. Friends and relatives
from away are arriving and making it even more enjoyable. I can't
wait for the ceremony although I know I'll be a sobbing wreck.
Apart from a little fatigue after extending myself I feel great.
Another MRI in two weeks.
If there is a silver lining in all this, it is that we realize how many
wonderful friends we have and how valuable they are and how
lucky we are.
Don't forget to let those close to you know that you love them.
Hugs and kisses,
Pam and Barry

Greetings

Hi folks,
Continuing to feel great. Best summer of my life what with
feeling great and retired. Nothing else to report regarding
my health.
Jamie and Beth and the girls arrive home Wednesday for
two weels to coincide with Suzie's wedding. Great times. My
problem with the wedding is that I'll have to speak . I'll cry at a good steak
so you can imagine what I'll be like that day.
Pam is booked to have her gallbladder out in early August but is
feeling pretty good otherwise.
You kow that certain someone who drives you nuts sometimes, try
a hug. Even works on kids.
Love to all,
Huggy Bear
