Home Again!

Hi folks,
Everyone in Halifax was absolutely fantastic especially Joe and Debbie. It's not fun having a couple move into your home for 6 weeks. They really are like family. That aside, it is sooooo great to be home and not having to make the trip again. I think Pam is more relieved than I am even.

Small things like feeding the dogs, getting a haircut, grocery shopping which used to be a chore, are now a pleasure. It's going to be hard to get the smile off my face.

Love you all,
Barry and Pam

Last Week

Hi Folks,
The last week is coming up. Yahoo. We didn't go home this weekend because of the weather. On Saturday Pam developed difficulty breathing and so we went to the emergency department. She has bronchitis, but is feeling improved today. Incidently, we sat in the waiting room for 8 hours. I'm seeing various aspects of the health care system from the other side and some definitely need improvement.

Myself, I am feeling fine with just 5 days left in this phase. After this, I will have 5 days of chemotherapy per month for 6 months. This won't involve travelling. Onwards and upwards.

Love,
Pam and Barry

9 more days

Hi friends,
Another rather uneventful week is done--just nine more days of treatment left. We 're not tired of the treatments but rather of the routine. It will be nice to finish and settle into a more normal style at home. Fatigue, appetite, and short term memory are a problem but not too bad. Overall, I can't complain.

We went to the Lebanese New Years Party at the Delta on Saturday night. Had an absolute great time. The food, the music, the people were all so enjoyable. Pam even got me up dancing. Looked pretty fancy in my tuxedo with the radiotherapy haircut.

Have a good week all of you and we'll be in touch.

Love,
Pam and Barry

16 of 30 treatments done

Hi folks,
We're slowly but surely getting there. Suzie and I had an enjoyable week in Halifax. Still tolerating the treatments quite well. Short term memory loss is starting to sneak into the picture. Hopefully this won't be too significant. I can see it now-- standing half way up the stairs and not remembering whether I was going up or down. I'm sure there will be numerous humourous situations related to this in the future. (Jamie will probably invent a few of his own).

Pam is starting to feel better with her cold and will be coming to Halifax this week.
We'll keep in touch.

Love,
Barry and Pam

New Year's Greeting

Hi folks,
Hope everyone enjoyed the New Years time. We certainly did and now it's time to get back to business. Pam's taking a well-deserved break this week so Suzie is going to accompany me to Halifax for the week. I can see it now-- me, Suzie, and my credit card for all those sales. Poor Suzie!

Feeling pretty good, a little nausea and loss of appetite, a little fatigue, and some hair loss on the right side of my noggin from the radiation. Three more weeks of treatment and then it's finger crossing time. The statistics for this particular tumour are extremely poor, unfortunately. However, you have to play the cards you're dealt.

Love,
Barry and Pam
