This week

Hi friends,

Pam and I are having a wonderful time just living "normal" days. I'm feeling great and Pam is catching up on some much-deserved rest. We haven't heard from Halifax yet with regard to the start of chemotherapy and radiotherapy. I would suspect that I will start in a week's time. Although the treatments will undoubtedly knock me down a notch or two, I am eager for them to start.

As some of you around Charlottetown may have noticed, I am not driving the car. That is not because of any physical problem. With this type of surgery there is the possibility of having a seizure. I am taking medication for this but nevertheless, I am fearful of having one while driving and hurting someone else. It remains to be seen when or if this will change.

Between Pam, Jacko and others there is no shortage of drivers. With regard to Beth's wonderful blog, because I am stable and doing well, what I plan on doing, is to write a note each weekend to update things particularly with regard to the treatments.

Once again, Pam and I love you all,
Barry

I think that it is wonderful that you are doing well and caring enough not to drive so you won't hurt others. That is just the kind of man you are. We are all missing you around the QEH. Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Hello, Barry and Pam,
We know from experience how great "normal" days feel, having lived through a malignant brain tumor with our son David when he was 18 years old. That was nearly fifteen years ago, and he has been fine ever since. Love, prayers, and a wicked sense of humor helped all of us tremendously.
Although it is finally feeling like winter here in Massachsetts, Paul has yet to pack up his clubs at Pleasant Valley - still hoping for one more day to get out there.
We look forward to seeing you at the Boys and Girls Club tournament this summer. Meanwhile, you are all in our thoughts , our prayers, and our hearts.

Hi BArry and Pam,

I was away for a couple of weeks and it is great to hear that things are going well.

I heard you were in to visit recently (and looked great). The gang was glad to see you.

Best of luck with the treatments.

My thoughts and prayers are with you both.

How is my friend????--the best orthopedic surgeon on P.E.I, sorry, east of Montreal-and N.S. included!!! I'm very glad you are doing OK- and hope you maintain a steady improvement and eventually a full recovery because we need you here as "fruity" can only fill one of your shoes- inspite of his large feet( but don't tell him that!) Kind regards to you and Pam. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year as I'll be off to TO and will not have another chance to wish you all the best.
Your buddy, Nic

Hi Barry, about 100 PEI Liberals attended the leadership convention last weekend in Montreal and we had lots of fun and did alot of work trying to convice others to move to our guy.We all seemed happy with the final result and look forward to moving harper and his theo-cons out of office in the spring........ From what i hear, we are well on our way to having a full slate of great PEI Liberals run as candidates in the upcoming provincial election..... this time is our time..........sorry you cannot be withus. we willmiss your hard work and dedication to improving the healthcare system. Without you last time.we would not have gotten as far as we did....... Liberals are always asking hw you are doing.....Thankfully I can pass on the blog address and give them updates if they have no computer...You really have a ton of prayers and good thoughts coming your way.........
Thanks for updating us on the treatment timetable.. i was wondering when you would be getting your tatoo for radiation treatment... think of you often.....

I, as well, am adding my comments to your latest entry.
You, and your family, continue to be in our prayers. We wish you the best of luck on the road ahead.
I too think that your caring enough by not driving is an A1 idea! Too bad others out there don't feel the same way. Prescription Drugs can be just as mind altering as alcohol. You just might be a "poster boy" someday for M.A.D.D. or S.A.D.D. Wonder what Pam would think of that?
Anyway I will continue to check in on your blog.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and yours.
