Note From Barry:

Hi Folks,
Another good day. Pam and I are planning on going to the movie Borat tonight. Eagerly awaiting the MRI and treatment plan which we will receive Monday and Tuesday. Hope to be back on the Island by Wednesday to get recharged for the next phase of treatment.

It was nice to hear from some of my med school classmates on the blog. John, thank you for your kind offer but I am confident here. If you could put your office number on, I would love to talk at your convenience this week.

The emotional swings are a lot better. I think I knew too much about what could have gone wrong with the surgery and that was a big factor.

Pam and I were laying in bed last night and I realized what little children find so warm, so comforting and so safe with their little pieces of blanket that they stroke. Now, in addition to the many other ways she is great, she's my blankie.

Hi Barry and Blankie,

It is a beautiful day to be out and about. We are so glad you are.

It is sunny and warm here on the Island,a tee shirt day. David is in the backyard raking and stuff, and me,I am too, but am taking a break. It is just too quiet back there with no activity down on the corner. Please may Joey and Pheobe come home soon and you two. See you Wednesday.The neighbourhood is not the same without you.

Beth, thanks for your updates, you write very well. We appreciate it. You have a beautiful baby daughter.

Love David and Nora
PS There are many things that we woman like to be called ... this is one, well, I had not thought of "Blankie". We do take what we can get though. And I know that Pam does get called many other sweet thing names.

Hi Barry and Pam

Pam (not the Blankie one) and I have had you on our minds from the moment we heard of your situation.
Had hoped to see you here in Halifax but unlike your old hockey days, you were too fast breaking out.
We will continue to watch for your updates now that we have the site.

Would love to see you if you decide on Hfx for treatments. I think Pam and I are still owed a drink for the Forum as we got to the seats first!!

Take care

Hey Barry, I have to admit I was delighted to see that you and Pam were going to see such an educational and enlightening film this evening. Nothing like Borat to lighten up the mood! Glad to see you havn't lost that great sense of humor. I look forward to sharing a few laughs with you at John and Dianne's when I make it home next summer.

If anyone can get through this it will be you. I wish you all the best.

Hi Friends,
Pam and I went to the movie Borat last night. In our opinion, it is totally tasteless and a waste of time.
We just came back from a brunch with Pam's sisters and families.Most enjoyable. Robin and her three month old baby girl represented Barbie.

Tomorrow and Tuesday we will start to find out about the next
phase of treatment. The delay is necessary to allow things to heal up from the surgery.
Possibly we will be home the middle of the week. We can't wait to give some payback hugs. Everyone has been super and we sure appreciat every thought, prayer and act of kindness.

Hi Barry;
Have been keeping track.You looked after my mum when she broke her wrist years ago and later when she broke her hip. She always said you were perfect(although I tried to tell her different!)She was 100 in June and is often confused but she did understand when I told her of your problem. She said to tell that lovely young man " I am pulling for him".I said,"mum, he is not that wonderful". She said " always listen to your mother!"
By the way,Barry, I know you aren't perfect, as none of us are, but you are great and one of the most people to have fun with. I have benefited from your care as well, and enjoyed a great professional association.
Hope my lapsed Prebyterian prayers will join the many others to get you through the coming weeks.

PS to Barry;
I don't know Pam that well, but know the things she must put up with. She's got to love you a lot to put up with being called "BLANKIE" by a known chauvinist male.

Hi Barry and Pam

Donna and I just got back from Florida an hour ago. We were gone for 10 days so we missed all the excitement. When we arrived John Quinn had left us a phone message and Spook had sent an e-mail so I imediately logged on to the blog and caught up.(That was Don's intro. . . he always has trouble with the "best wishes and luv ya stuff", so now it's my turn) Barry, we all know it's hard to keep a good man down (I know you have your own translation on this!), in any event Barry, from what you've always said you're "the best" in which case we should have less worries. Just in case . . . our thoughts and prayers are with you, Pam and the rest of the family. May you have the strength and courage to endure.

Sincerely, and more fondly than most.

Don & Donna, Saint John, NB

Hi Pam and Barry;

It is rich hearing your steady progress and your sharing of this worldwind experience.

Remember -nothing heals as well as hope...and we all remain hopeful!

Prayers and fingers crossed that you are able to get "home" to your own space later this week.
