The Fight Continues

My man on the scene (Jamie) is now back home in the U.S., so I had to call in to Barry and Pam to get the report. Barry is out of the hospital now and as I mentioned earlier, they will be staying in Halifax for the next few days.

Here's the word from the surgeon: it was a primary brain cell tumor, which is serious. Barry says the statistics aren't rosy, but it is beatable. And Jamie says that someone as stubborn as his dad is the guy to do it. The next step is a 15-week course of radiotherapy and chemotherapy. I don't know exactly when that will begin, but Barry is gearing up for the fight.

Barry asked me to again thank all of you for checking in on him. He and Pam really appreciate your notes and comments.

The person who is calling me a silly old bastard is a very dear friend from the OR. It all started when I dropped something in the OR and I referred to myself as that.
Pam and I are doing well considering all .This all has been way harder on her than me.
Please keep in touch. It helps both of us.
Love,
Barry

I had the opportunity to play only a few holes with you this summer, but your conversation about buying a golf game gave me great hope.

Among the many members of Belvedere, and the many family members for whom you have eased some pain and replaced the spring in their step, I add to the list my best wishes.

Hi Barry
After that in depth chat we had at the CDP on Saturday 2weeks ago about joint injections,I could not believe what I was hearing about you a few days later.
With your strong character and personality, and the help of all your friends, I know that you can beat this humbling disease. When all is well again, maybe you can come down to the track and I will give you some tips on how to make those horses go faster. All The Best. Ian

Hi Barry:

Thinking of you again, and wishing there were 'magic words' to really convey how much you mean to so many, many people!

None of us can actually walk this road with you, but thoughts, prayers, and love, are with you every step. Hoping that in some small way, they will help.

With very best wishes to you, and all your family. Hang in there, and keep that twinkle in your eye!!!

Dear Barry and Pam and Jamie and David and Suz and all the rest of you!
We love you lots and are thrilled with how well you physically sailed through this week. The roller coaster will continue. It's a critical part of the ride, believe me. And none of you have to "stay strong", just being there for each other, therein lies the strength! You can win this battle and by the looks of all the love and friendship on this blog, it is a battle well worth fighting. Hang in there guys. We'll get through this together. Lots of love from Mo. xoxoxoxoxo

Barry, I am glad to that you are feeling better. My dad called and felt he had witnessed a miracle. The closest thing he could compare it to was the time he saw the image of the virgin mary on the tim hortons in sydney.
See you soon
