Up and Around

Good morning, everyone. And it is a good morning in Halifax! Barry has been moved out of intensive care and into intermediate care. He has been up walking around this morning, and aside from slight weakness in his left hand, is doing very well. Pam tells me he is "tickled pink" with how things went and at this point he is only taking Tylenol 3 for the pain.

They expect to be released from the hospital on Friday or Saturday.

Thanks again to everyone for checking in and leaving comments on the blog. They are reading them and appreciate the kind words.

Hi Barry, Pam and Family

Great to hear you are doing so well Barry. We are so thrilled to hear from Jamie that there are no major deficits from the surgery that were not there before! (And we do know there were some! Ha!)

You keep on walking right out those front doors until you're back on the Island.

You are in our thoughts and prayers.

We love you
Shawn and Jill

Hi Barry And Pam
Great news!
We can almost picture Barry strolling the corridors, Johnny shirt askew, giving the nurses a hard time!
Keep it up and come home soon. The jokes situation here is pathetic without you.

Beth, this site is just such a great idea - it has brought us all some peace of mind knowing that we're in the loop. Thanks a million. Pammy, please let me know if there is anything I can do for you guys here in Hali. Barry, can't wait to see your new modified hair-do!

Hey Barry,

I was shocked when I heard the news. I thought about how much fun you have brought to my 'conservative type'/old folky family. I bet you never realized how much I looked up to you, and well, how scared I was of you too, when I was little. :-) I send my best wishes from Ontario. I will surely be seeing all of you soon. Take Care,
Tara Jennings

PS: The doctors told us the same thing after my dad had his stroke, "Cognitively, your dad has not changed". Hahahaha. Have you ever heard that man laugh!? There is no way any "cognitively intact" person could ever produce such a noise! Sorry Dad..... :-)

Hi Everyone,So glad everything went well. Glad you are in intermediate care. Intensive care is so busy and noisy. When I was there the guy's machine next to me kept buzzing and they would yell at him. Lem! Breathe!and then pound the machine to get it working again. The little glassed in room was much quieter.John MacEachern just called to tell us about his visit. Miracles do happen. With the whole Island praying it's not a wonder!Ain't brain surgery great? No pain. Just ugly stitches. You all are in our thoughts. Love Carol and Ron

Doc: so glad that everying is going well. We are in the office waiting for our pizza - it is so lonesome without you. According to the
Guardian you are now 60 years old ... is that what brain surgery does for you or was it the food at the QEII. What we really want to know - is there an orderly running around with a black eye on the NEURO unit? Love to you, Pam and the kids.
