The Latest from Barry

Hi Friends.
Feeling much better. Got discharged today and met with the radiotherapist. Incidently, I asked Dr.Holness (one of my many heroes) if the radio and chemo therapy could be done on the Island. He said that the doctors and equipment at home are excellent but that because of the experience that his team has had with this particular type of tumor and its location, that he would prefer to keep me under his team. He's such a hero of mine so Halifax it is.

We met today with the radiotherapist. The program, as Pam and I understand it, is six weeks of the treatments both at the same time followed by long-term treatments. We feel lucky to be getting them. Hope to be home Thursday evening and return for a consultation here early Monday. Pam and I love you all.

Barry

Hi Barry

Sorry it took so long to forward our best wishes for a speedy recovery. I actually tried to get on your site last Wednesday and for some reason couldn't connect. Perhaps it was the humongous number of people wishing you well. Regardless,Patsy and I have been thinking about you and keeping up to date on your progress.
If there is anyone I know that is tough enough (and stubborn too, you need that)to beat this SOB it is you. I have no doubt what so ever, that you will out whacking a golf ball in no time - and still straight and long!!

One of the reasons I was pre - occupied last week was that I organized a big party for Patsy celebrating her 10th anniversary of her mastectomy. Flew Tamara home from Germany as part of the surprise and she was definitely surprised. I remember only too well the day Patsy had surgery and what she looked like after coming out of recovery - scared the shit out of me. I am sure Pam would have had similar feelings. My point is - look at her now, so healthy it is scary. I wish the same for you.

George and Jeanie Hughes were over for the party and wanted me to pass on their best wishes as well. Both of us really appreciate the efforts you made to get him in for early back surgery - he is a new man - no pain, no drugs, no booze. We actually got a round of golf in this past Saturday - he still can't golf - two hackers!!

Anyway Barry, time to stop this rambling. You and Pam are in our thoughts and prayers. And like we both used to say,as we looked into our respective mirrors, of course your memory may not be as good as mine. "You handsome son of a bitch, don't ever die"
Hang tough and have a speedy recovery.

Lyall,Patsy,Chris and Tamara.

Will keep in touch.

Hi Barry and Pam , the B.C. connection here.We heard about your 'blip' on the radarscreen screen a few days ago from Spook and we've been following things since.I wrote a note the other night but somehow eraced it in the sending, so i'll try again. It couldn't be that hard! Obviousley it was a bad roll of the dice but things sound positive so far. You have lots of friends and support and we'll add our positive thoughts to those. Good luck on the rest of the journey, we'll keep in touch, Mark and

Hi Barry,
Just wanted you to know that you are in our thoughts and prayers daily. We know the road ahead is a long and difficult one, but we know that your amazing strength, your love of life and your wonderful sense of humor will get you through this. We will be closely watching your progress.

With much love and admiration.

p.s. I hope this message doesn't show up a million times. It took me a while to figure this out (not the most computer savy girl in the world). I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the cart!!!

Dear Dr. Ling
I really didn't appreciate you enough until now when I wont have you to do my other knee in January. I'm faced with a big decision as to which one of the other surgeons to pick from?????? I really dislike the idea that you wont be doing the surgery even though this was out of your hands. Anyway, the most important thing is for you to get better real soon. Keep up your strength, perserverence, and great sense of humour. By the way I'm looking forward to meeting your blankie sometime down the road. God Bless you both. jd_gunning@yahoo.com.

Hey Badness and Pam,
Today was my first day back to work after a week off,not much changes. Saw all the other ortopods today{the new guy, the tall guy and the young guy} and thought back to a conversation we had a few weeks ago and hands down I'd still love to see the not as tall, not as new, and not as young guy. Thinking of you often with a smile on my face, cause that's what you do.
